Spring Projects Begin...

Well we have finally gotten to this ugly corner at the end of our drive. Let me tell ya, that section has bothered me since the day we moved in. There was a huge ugly overgrown bush there that my brother-in-law pulled out for us with his truck this past summer, then it left a hole and the bricks all out of sorts, so it's been an eyesore! I always knew what I wanted to do, but other projects took priority. But we knew we could not go another year without addressing the ugly corner. So, the landscapers spent the day working to clean it up and added this corner fence, and lined it with boxwoods, which will turn into a hedge eventually. It turned out great. They also left the area ready for planting once the weather permits. I'd take any suggestions if you have any of what should go in the planting bed. My thought was to add 3 pretty bushes and some perennials, but I'm not sure yet. I guess I'll see what the nurseries have that may catch my eye. So, I hope you like how it turned out. I'm happy!

  2. I love it, Rose! You know what I can picture in the pie shaped space behing the fencing? A dwarf weeping cherry (snow fountain). we just bought one ourselves, although ours isn't the dwarf variety, but they blossom just beautifully! Look them up on line... Would love to hear how C from your work is doing?

  5. How about Knock Out Roses? I love them and they fill in very quickly. They are so easy to take care of and don't require all the work that regular roses need.

  6. Hello, I just found your blog and love it! Your picket fence is really pretty! Since I have a passion for roses, you might think of planting roses there? :)
    Have a lovely day!

  7. This corner is going to be spectacular indeed! I love the weeping cherry idea, or perhaps a varigated weigalia, or spirea depending on the colors you want. Underplanting with some day lilies, lavender, or other perennials would be lovely complements. I think a form of climbing rose would be classic as well, canes woven thru the pickets, perhaps a few sweet pea vines mixed in, or a variety of clematis to mingle with the mix. Some creeping thyme under the boxwood may also soften the lines and save on mulch and water requirements too.

  12. Hi Rose,
I love your blog and was so happy to come upon it in my search of beautiful things. I have a question about a picture in the collage at the bottom of this page. It is of the green pillows on a bed (second from the left) that caught my eye. I am in search of that same green fabric if you just happen to know where I could get some. I have 6 yards of it and have been looking for more. It is a reproduction of barkcloth popular back in the 50's and I just love it!!! So much so that I would know it anywhere. Since you are a designer, I thought you might just know where I could get more. I'll check back here to see if you post. Thanks in advance for any help you may have and keep inspiring all of us!

  13. Hi Kim - first of all, thanks for stopping in, so nice of you to visit. The fabric is by Raymond Waites. I don't know the name of the pattern. But hope that by knowing the designer you may be able to find it easier that way. Good luck on your search, it's beautiful fabric.
    Hugs,
    Rose

  14. Hi Rose,
Thank you so-o-o much for getting back to me so quick. Just knowing the manufacturer of this fabric is a huge help. No one has been able to help me find it without knowing who made it. Again, thank you very much.
    Blessings!
